Game Adverts: In-Game Footage or CG?

Boy, does that new Bioshock Infinite trailer look good or what?

The newest trailer for Bioshock Infinite had a few people saying that there was too much CG (all of it, in fact) and not enough in-game footage.  The trailer can be viewed here.

While this conversation is certainly not new to the video game industry, it is something that really needs to be examined as we move closer and closer to photo-realistic images in games.  Some people believe that CG trailers are worthless or disingenuous as they are rarely accurate in their portrayal of gameplay or the final product.

At the end of the day, however, advertisements are meant to build excitement and curiosity in a consumer.  If it succeeds, it will push more people to investigate and, hopefully, invest in the item being advertised.  Personally, I believe that the latest TV spot for Bioshock Infinite did just that: it got the viewer excited for its March 26th release date.

At least, I'm excited; but what about you?  Go ahead and sound-off in the comments below and let me know what you think of the new Bioshock Infinite trailer.  While you're at it, why don't you also share your opinion on CG in advertisements in general!
